Ungoliath

Forging Darkness since 2002, a passage into Tendalied.

Ungoliath emerged from the shadows in 2002, founded by Bane in Berlin, Germany. From the very beginning, their music has been more than songs. It’s a passage into Tendalied, a dim and majestic world where flame, frost, ruin, and prophecy intertwine.

Ungoliath’s sound has evolved across demos, EPs, and full-length releases. Their EP The Fourfold Descent (2025) showcased four elemental hymns that pushed the boundaries of atmospheric black metal. Prior to that came Whispers of the Gale (2024), a full studio album that fused crushing riffs, brooding doom elements, and cold, harsh vocals. The one-man core of Ungoliath (Steffen Kraatz, aka Bane) weaves haunting melodies, evocative riffs, and layers of somber ambiance to create immersive landscapes.

Drawing inspiration from the extinction of ancient gods, celestial catastrophes, and internal struggle, Ungoliath’s lyrics are poetic realms of sorrow and defiance. Stories sung from hurt and hope, silence and storm. Their artistic journey has found new dimension with increasingly ambitious productions: symphonic textures, ritualistic choral layers, and cinematic depth now mingle with raw, primal black metal energy.

Ungoliath remains independent and deeply grounded in the underground, yet their reach is growing. With Shadows of the Eclipse, they advance toward a new chapter. One in which the broken realm’s cry becomes an anthem, the ruins begin to breathe, and the eclipse does not signify an end, but the gathering of fire beneath ash.
